Writer's Workshop: drafting step

In the drafting step students will put their ideas into written form. The main focus in this step is content … NOT grammar mechanics and spelling.

  1. 5 Step Student Handout (PDF - you need Adobe Acrobat Reader)
(NOTE: this is the same handout recommended earlier for download and duplication for distribution.) This is a one page handout for students to keep as easy reference for the five steps they should follow for the Writer's Workshop.
  2. Drafting Poster (PDF - you need Adobe Acrobat Reader)
This poster should be visibly displayed in the classroom for quick reference.

Drafting

Putting the decisions made in the prewriting stage into action in rough form. Ideas are most important at this point.
