The Zoo
The following are possible ideas or activities to use.
Zoo
by Gail Gibbons (Harper Trophy, 1991)
A behind the scene look at what makes the zoo so special.
Activity Idea:
Students will work on summarizing skills by developing a factual summary of a zoo animal(s). Using a graphic organizer, on paper, the Internet or a computer program such as Kidspiration™, students will organize four facts about their zoo animals. This can be completed in a large group, within small groups or individually. After collecting the facts, students can elaborate with additional information about each fact. The teacher should model how to summarize information in paragraphs for students.
