The Zoo
The following are possible ideas or activities to use.

Animal Strike at the Zoo. It's True!
by Karma Wilson (HarperCollins, 2006)
This whimsical look at some of the wants and needs of the animals in the zoo is told from the animals’ points of view.

Activity Idea:
Students will discuss information what a strike is and then examine the animals’ complaints. As a group, use a T chart to list and discuss what the animals’ needs and wants are. Students can then develop their own T chart about their own classroom needs and wants. As a class, determine what the class’s needs and wants are and compare them to those of individuals. Discuss how the class can work together to accommodate the class’s needs and possibly some of its wants.
Additional Books:

I Want to be a Zookeeper By Dan Liebman (Firefly Books, 2003)

Z is for Zookeeper by Marie and Roland Smith (Sleeping Bear Press, 2005)
