Fragility is an overly sensitive hippopotamus that interprets compliments as insults and is always hurt by them. Her reactions force her friends to stay away from her. Encounters with a bully help her gain confidence and hear compliments as they are meant to be understood.
Activity Idea: After discussion about what hurts individual’s feelings, students will use either paper and markers or a drawing computer program like Kid Pix™ to make a poster entitled “STOP” or “DON’T”. Depending on grade level students can write a slogan and draw a picture about something that hurts their feelings.
