Family Pictures / Cuadros de Familia
- Family Pictures / Cuadros de Familia*
written by Carmen Lomas Garza
and
In My Family/En mi Familia*
written by Carmen Lomas Garza
- These two books provide a unique look at a different culture’s family life. Memories and descriptions of the family experiences can provide readers with cultural insights. Although the reading level is a little high, these books can be easily shared with younger students.
Activity Idea
Ask students to share their memories and experiences in a diorama about their family. A traditional diorama could be constructed with materials from around the house or classroom. A picture diorama could be arranged with the use of pictures made in a drawing computer program such as Kid Pix™ or MS Paint™ or the use of digital family pictures.
