A story about a little boy and the carrot seed that he planted. Even though everyone tells him it will not grow, he takes care of it and is patient for his reward.
Activity Idea:
In class, students will plant a carrot seed (or another vegetable seed) in a cup and will provide it with its necessities and take care of it. The teacher will provide a daily journal to each student. They will write short daily entries in it about what they observe, what they are doing and their feelings in regards to their seed’s growth. Depending on grade level, the final pages can include a summary or illustration about the growing process.
