Beginning with the purchase of his famous hat, the author shares short, interesting stories about Abraham Lincoln’s life. The reader will appreciate his wittiness and, at times, his disorganization as he becomes a great leader for the United States.

Activity Ideas
Students can have an opportunity to design their own hat on paper. This hat should be unique and have a special characteristic that shows it belongs to them. Using a drawing program such as Kid Pix™ or Pixie2™ or paper, pencil and markers, students can design their hat and add a caption as to why it is special to them. Check out:
