Abe Lincoln: The Boy Who Loved Books
- Abe Lincoln: The Boy Who Loved Books *
written by Kay Winters
- Abraham Lincoln’s love of books is a great model for boys and girls. This kid-friendly biography of Lincoln covers all parts of his life, with special references to his love of reading.
Activity Ideas
Discuss with students their own love of books. What books have they read or listened to that were special to them? What made those books special or memorable? As a class, using a computer program such as MS Excel™ or a simple paper form, develop an on-going listing of special books. Include title, author, and description along with what made it special. For younger students, simple words to describe the book can be used or a writing buddy can record their thoughts.
