Literature Links for Intermediate
The Kid Who Ran for President
The Kid Who Ran for President*
written by Dan Gutman
This inventive and lighthearted story of a 12-year-old boy running for president will leave the students wanting to learn more about the process. They will love campaigning as well as the problems they encounter along the way.

Activity Idea
Many political issues and questions are brought up in the book. Ask students to name one issue in the upcoming elections that is especially important to them. What two questions would they like to ask the presidential candidates about this issue? Have students use a word processor to compose their questions.
