Jazz in Black & White*

Schiedt is a well known photographer who has written books on music and presented his photographs in magazines, books and films, including Ken Burns’s PBS documentary Jazz. Jazz in Black & White arranges 80 black and white pictures of jazz musicians from the 1950s to today.

Activity Idea
Select a theme in music and brainstorm all of the possible pictures you could take with a digital camera to depict this theme. Look at the object or person in a different way than usual, expressing facts, as well as emotions through the lens.
