On August 7, 2006 a diverse group of stakeholders representing P-16 educators, business people, community leaders, politicians, and professional organizations attended the Indiana Writing Summit. The goals of the summit were to:

  1. engage individuals who have the experience and background in P-16 writing instruction in sharing.
  2. bring together these individuals to help chart an agenda for P-16 writing instruction in the state of Indiana.
Dr. Suellen Reed

Featured speakers included Dr. Suellen Reed, Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction,
Dr. Carol D'Amico, Executive Vice President of IVY Tech Community College, and Dr. Mary Andis, IREAD Director with the Indiana Department of Education. Introductions and welcomes were provided by Dr. George Hynd, Dean of Purdue College of Education, and Marv Bailey, President of the Corporation for Educational Technology.
